Thank you for using paint. I appreciate all the effort you put into this. I mean, paint is kind of known for being effortless, but inversely, it takes effort to make anything decent. I'd expect nothing less. Did you ever have a connection with a coffee house like this, or is this just some long-running joke?

Carrion responds:

Why thanks you sir! I spent most of my teen years hanging out in coffee shops drawing and stuff. This came from a comic idea I had that was never fully realized.

This is so brilliant... I love the simplicity and the stippling effects. The way the lines radiate in the splotch behind the stelleroid thing is pretty trippy; I'm kind of jealous that you managed to make them so circular. I mean, I know that's difficult. I also really like how the mouth is: kind of ripped open and jagged-looking. The stippling on the head provides a nice gradient, too. I really like this a lot.

Rutger responds:

Thanks a lot man! :)
I'm currently searching between the perfect balance of clean & detailed and doing my best to draw as precisely possible in one go, without any sketching, so I'm really glad with your review!

MONKEYS

Hoboweasel responds:

Yeah, apparently I can review my own art. Strange. I just wanted to see what would happen. I'm hoping this gets fixed soon. PM me if this has happened to you...

You've got such a talent for anthropomorphism; many do, but not to the amazing extent to which you drew this. I really like the intimidating stance and the pelt (though the latter was a bit redundant--and that doesn't mean it doesn't look epic). If this only took you 2 hours, I bet you could make a whole army in a day. I suppose I underestimated your abilities (even though I initially thought they were pretty damned good to begin with). You should really keep drawing stuff like this. You've got a real interesting and unique style; this drawing in particular is sort of reminiscent of Tony the Tiger but as a badass Spartan juggernaut.

CursedMark02 responds:

Haha thanks, so this is called anthromophic art huh, i just got the idea of drawing man like animals from the tv show "thundercats",and yeah it took me 2hr3m. thanks for the great review and i really like that badass spartan juggernaut idea.

Dude, this is sick. I love the altered proportions and how you captured such a nonchalant pose. The subject of a tiger smoking is also just epic. Although the colors are a bit plain (I suck at color myself), I really like that you still added some in the first place. I like where you're going with the street corner idea; you should keep going (if only to sketch out a little patch of road and make a real trippy design in the background).

CursedMark02 responds:

Thanks and yeah i guess i suck at coloring (its my first time coloring my drawings using a computer) but i'll improve :D, i guess i'll continue this after ive finished what im currently workin on.. thanks again dude!

Brilliant line work! I really like all the pyramids and the ventricle-looking entanglement in the figure's head. The aforementioned symbolism makes me think of the Illuminati, actually; regardless, I really just like how precise and strange this is.

Rutger responds:

Thanks! I really like hearing people's subjective thoughts about my artwork, it's very interesting to hear everybody's different interpretations and feelings.

This is really beautiful. I'm not sure how this would make sense in minecraft- considering everything is composed of squares- but your use of artistic license makes this piece come alive; I don't think of it so much in regards to minecraft as much I do to a hole bore by some strange and enormous mole-like creature. Regardless, the light shining through the top is particularly beautiful and I like how the scene trails off into the distance.

xcrosspictures responds:

Supposed to be inside a root so it's not made by a mole creature. Yet thanks for the feedback :D

Wonderfully abstract... It reminds me of some of Stanley Downwood's art (which is very much a compliment). I really like the way you make the turquoise and black bands weave in and out of the piece.

JessePants responds:

Yeah that is one hell of a compliment, thanks a lot.

I like how simplistic this is... (must have been fun to draw). The sword seems very well done - especially the lighting on the blade - and I like how the ribbon flows with the wind. The leaves were also a nice touch. The linear quality of the rocks is also sort of interesting (reminds me of some sort of ruins). The color of the piece is also very warm (despite being predominantly blue) and flows very nicely.

akoRn responds:

thank you so much. i am beginning trying to understand the deeper usage of color and how to apply that to my works. its a very complex process for me, gettin the hang of it after 8 weeks been critized and advised by my boss (im on internship right now).

hope to improve more soon.. thank you for the kind words. :)

Old NG rat. Much love.
